Wednesday, April 30

I watched an episode of Spaced last night. That show is amazing. Okay, so I didn't watch the whole episode through. I had to stop watching in the first break, since I'm incapable of sitting down in front of a TV for more than 10 minutes without getting restless. However, I did do my ironing to the second half, so in many ways I was present for the entire show. The point is that it's an amazing show and it's taking all the strength I can muster to prevent myself from buying both series on DVD for £8.99 each from play. The cost is not too high... unless you factor in the fact that I'll never actually get around to watching the discs! Ah yes... my Monty Python Movies box set arrived today. I'll probably not watch them either!

Mmmm wholegrain mustard. Another one of my food cravings... I can feel it in my nose. Wow!

Well, ok... Steve has finally got a website. Well, he has some webspace and a format he stole from Mal and content that's being thrown in from blogger. The only way is up!

Give me porridge! And plenty of it!

I haven't been reading "The Idler", but I have seen its crap map. More non-idling has also revealed to me that I was at the last day of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (the live musical version) with Brian Blessed in the role of Baron Bomburst. Since my reason for going to see it was largely focused on the man himself, whose voice I've made it my new year's resolution to impersonate, I think I timed that well!

Fantastic fun was had by all in Edinburgh this evening. Thanks Keith and Chris for your support and company during the drive. The spoils of this evening's fun can be found on the ashleyfrieze.co.uk site.

Had fun in York today. The shopping was crap, but the comedy was fun. See my ashleyfrieze.co.uk site for more details.

I don't remember Lego being a source of cheap thrills when I was a child. However, having this Lego porn site, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to look at the little plastic blocks the same way.

I think one has to make seven impetuous purchases every so often. Here are my seven (including the latest):
  1. Light summer jacket
  2. A variety of shirts
  3. New suit
  4. Laptop
  5. Beatles Hard Day's Night DVD
  6. Monty Python Films Box Set
  7. New Mobile Phone
Of course, my credit card company is not complaining...

I'm a complete sucker. I've just bought a DVD box set - it's a 5 disc set. And I already own 4 of the discs. In one case, one of the discs I own is not the nice widescreen edition, so that made me want to upgrade it. In the case of the 5th disc, you can only get it as part of the box set... damned marketing strategies. Ah well... at least I'll have the complete set of Monty Python movies on DVD (not that I don't already have them all on VHS anyway!). However, I shall make a bold move and sell my existing discs on ebay in order to recoup the loss - at least, that's the plan! Someone confiscate my mouse or block my access to Play.com. Aaaagh!

I found a cute index of synopses of musicals.

Wednesday, April 23

An eventful few days overall.

Sadly the Wednesday Weekly Weigh-in, which has become more of an irregular measurement than its name might suggest, has placed me at +2, giving the total a kick to -54. Not too sad, though. I vary. I have lost an inch around the waist as far as I can tell, so it must just be muscle or something. Or maybe my bustline is taking one for the team.

My favourite quote of the weekend, said without rancour - "It's amazing what can happen after a few pints of Guinness".

Success at my lunchtime effort to buy jeans. I am still on the fringe of the available size range, but that didn't stop me from procuring a pair of black jeans to aid my invisibility during my backstage efforts next week. Not only that, but the service was prompt and the jeans £1.01 cheaper than their marked price. Bonus.

Then, I arrived back to my desk to discover (via some bizarre route) that David Hasselhoff has been in a musical version of Jekyll and Hyde - how weird is that? If you don't believe me, then check it out.

RatherGood.com is probably better defined as "not too bad". However, I was highly amused at their mondegreen-based Elephants and Pavarotti animation. I was also disgusted by the rudeness (so, highly amused, then) of their Buffy swearing keyboard.

Interesting discussion over at Frownland over the new Honda Ad (links from the discussion).

Hooray... my exhaust knocking noise has not cost me a fortune. The nice man at the garage told me it was "an exhaust rubber" and he's put one on for me for free. Whoopeeee... freebies... yay.

Oh yeah, then he told me that two of my tyres are down below the legal limit and that there's not a single brake on my car that's working correctly... ah whoopsie!

Tuesday, April 15

Very busy schedule at the moment...

Saturday, April 12

I've come to the conclusion that I'm frightened of leisure time. I have an instinct to be bored and an urge to ensure that I have plenty to keep me occupied. In fact, I'm perfectly capable of vegging out in front of the TV. Sadly, I'm also capable of eating copious quantities of whatever happens to be in the house. Luckily my home contains mainly healthy food, so even if I overeat, the worst that can happen is that my cholesterol improves or something. Perhaps I should make it my life's work to watch all my DVDs and read all my books - I still buy them faster than I use them with my eyes. This may prove a problem, unless all the time I'm spending in the garden is my subconscious telling me to prepare it for some builders to come along and build a video/book library on it to house the spoils of my media-purchasing addiction.

Add to that my habit of buying clothes and the new baby that is my new laptop... and well... my bank balance could do with bolstering.

I have done fairly little today that impressed me, but I have enjoyed myself (at least I think so) and I have achieved a lifelong ambition that I'm not going to mention, since it's fairly childish. All I'll say is that portable computing is a good thing.

Plans for tomorrow - clean the oven and dig the garden (I bet I achieve neither!).

New computers are fun!

A thought:

Deleting your number from my phone
and feeling a profound sense of
nothing.

My pocket does not feel lighter
my heart does not feel heavier
it is the faintest glimmer of hope I have extinguished
in your name.

Thinking that someone had spiked my Lemon flavoured Diet Coke yesterday, I double checked the label... and discovered that it was in fact new Vanilla Flavour. Crikey! Some sort of non-sugar kit-kat substitute methinks. Maybe 500ml is a bit much of this to consume in one go, but it was certainly a nice treat for me.

Tuesday, April 8

Just to confirm. I AM like a child with a new toy, and I haven't even received the toy yet. I've spent the last hour or so tidying my room to receive the bundle of joy which is not even arriving tomorrow (like it promised it would). When it does arrive, I will be ready for it. I'm not sure I'll be ready for my credit card bill, though.

Monday, April 7

My blog appears to have fixed itself... either that, or fiddling with it fixed it. Either way, welcome back. Observe the various updates, listed somewhere between now and March 30th... we're back online!!! At least I hope so.

I took a double plunge today. I decided to buy a suit, and I decided to have the haircut everyone's been telling me to have. What's left for me to achieve in this life now?

Saturday, April 5

Updates galore. There is a new version of the Haikulator online - over 300,000 permutations now. There is even a new haiku in the haiku section. As if that were not enough, there's a straight poem in there too (couldn't think of anywhere else to put it).

PLUS, I've finally finished off entering my diary from my London trip. It ends with a whimper, not a bang, so don't get your hopes up.

Thursday, April 3

The last minute gig went quite well. You can read more about it on my AshleyFrieze.co.uk website. In particular, there's a clip.

Wednesday, April 2

Yikes and crikey!!! A last minute gig arranged this afternoon for TODAY!

I took the evil test...
I am 14% evil.

I try to stay away from evil deeds but succumb to temptation every once in a while. I'm not quite on my way to hell but I certainly have some explaining to do.

Are you evil? find out at Hilowitz.com
