I arrived at the gig with my car full of tools. This proved handy as there was something wrong with the PA system. I soon diagnosed and fixed the problem. The audience of 7 were not that impressed when I told them about it, though I made them laugh, opening the show with alacrity before getting in my car for a long long long drive to Newcastle where I arrived at about 3am.
