Tonight was a gig to remember. The reasons were varied. I had three guests watching me, and none of them had seen me do a proper gig before, so first impressions count. It also was an odd room and an odd crowd. I was also gigging with contact lenses in, for only the second time.
Actually, it was more an evening of remembering gigs than it being a gig to remember. The compere and I had done a gig together in July - Global Gathering - quite an impressive gig. The middle act remembered a gig which I'd recorded for him a few years ago - he still listens to the recording and hears my boomy laugh on it. The closing act and I had no shared stories... but the promoter remembered seeing me at my first ever performance in Coventry (that was an awful gig).
So memories abounded. That's what comedy is for. If I can still remember gigs when I pass the 1000 gig mark, I'll be richer for it. I'm nearly at the 640 mark, so not far to go - give me a couple more years.
