I had a hot shower with the full force of my megaflo boiler pushing water through at what can only be described as "a heck of a rate".
The fan ran for quite some time after I left the bathroom - it's humidity sensitive.
The tiles were cold to the feet, though the radiator hadn't been on, so the bathroom was specifically colder than normal.
And that's that. I have a working bathroom. The toilet works too.
Two nights ago I attached a shaving mirror, on an arm, and a toilet roll holder.
The builder should be finished today. There's then some woodwork painting to do and some repainting of the bathroom paint in areas where the paint has been damaged during construction. Perhaps during the painting phase, I'll have to shower away from home.
Though only a small room, it has been quite expensive to construct. I think this is a result of the fact that a bathroom needs a certain number of jobs doing and they cost the same in labour whether it's 4 square metres or 6 square metres. Last night, for instance, I would only have had a small amount of effort to hang an additional two sheets of wallpaper on the flat walls, where it was the corners that took the time, along with the getting started and tidying up. See. Proof.
I will get the bathroom to a state of completeness soon, though the urgency has dropped off, compared with other tasks. Conversely, it will probably help me to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, and feel like something in this massive project is actually complete. It's intimidating to be surrounded by to-do-lists.
Anyway, I sat in a towel in my own bedroom last night for the second time ever in this house. The first attempt to shower at home was very unsatisfying. Last night's was glorious. I'll feel better for washing myself more often.
