Peppa Pig is a good TV show. There are so many reasons why I think this, the quality of the performances, especially Peppa herself, the fantastic cast, the brilliant writing and the fact that, even when you've seen an episode 100 times before, it's still not actually that wearing. However, the biggest thing for me about Peppa Pig is seeing how I compare with Daddy Pig, the male parental role model that my daughter, and no doubt when he's old enough my son, subconsciously compare me with.
Daddy Pig is a big stubbly man with a very round belly and an understanding wife. He snores. He's hapless. He's pompous. He's lovable. Above all else, Daddy Pig seldom even thinks of losing his temper and is always cheerful and lovely to his children.
I love that man (pig). I have him on a mug.
While perhaps (there's no perhaps about it) I should be dealing with the roundness side of things, I should truly aim to be more like him. Daddy Pig is an adorable male role model and his imperfections make him more so.
Oink oink!
